Spanish LaLiga top guns Barcelona is set to reactivate it’s chase for free-agent Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

According to Barcelona-based SPORT.es , the Catalans are in the market for a midfielder with a different profile from those currently in the squad, specifically one who can excel in a recovery role.

Previously, the Blaugrana were linked with moves for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez and Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino. There were also discussions involving Everton’s Amadou Onana, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes.

The Nigerian combactive midfielder is reportedly admired by the club’s new manager Hansi Flick and the club’s Sporting Director Deco because of his physical potential, although his first option was Onana, from Everto, an unaffordable player for the total price of the operation.

Ndidi was offered months ago to the Blaugrana sports management and Xavi Hernández came to observe him to give his verdict.

Ndidi has played at a very high level and has been a key figure in Leicester’s promotion and has an important renewal offer on the table although he has not yet responded.

Recall the midfielder has also received interest from several Premier League teams and Juventus, although the Barca option attracts him a lot, but he knows he must wait and could choose to commit to another team. But the plan move will not arrive until the end of June and that could be a handicap in the transfer.
