Super Eagles Head Coach, Finidi George has expressed confidence in their ability to emerge victorious if all the players bring their top-notch club performances to the game against South Africa.

George believes that defeating South Africa is within reach if every player gives their all on the field.

During a media session in Lagos, he said: “We are aware that it will be a tough game, as we have faced South Africa in the recent AFCON and are familiar with their capabilities.

“A majority of their squad members compete in South Africa, but if our players display the same dedication and effort seen in their European clubs, we should have no trouble securing a win.

“I have faith in the current form of our players and their outstanding performances in Europe, which should translate into success in the upcoming games. I am optimistic about our readiness and hope for a bit of luck on our side.”

Nigeria is set to face South Africa in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Uyo next month.

This upcoming match will mark Finidi’s first official game as the head coach of the Super Eagles.

Having drawn their initial two matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, the Super Eagles are aiming for their first victory in the qualifying campaign.
