The Benin Arsenal started their 2023-24 campaign on the continent with a much needed win on home turf against Algeria’s Association Sportive Olympique de Chlef (ASO Chlef) in the 1st leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash.
Bendel Insurance hosted ASO Chlef at the 12,000 capacity Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Saturday afternoon, to jostle for a spot in the group stages, with the return fixture billed in a week’s time.
Imade Osarenkhoe gave Bendel the slim victory with the only goal of the game, as the Benin Arsenal will hope to do better than their CAFCC experience back in 2005 when they made it to the second round of the competition.
The 2nd leg will be played on Saturday 26th of August, 2023 by 8:30 pm Nigerian time at the Stade Mabrouki Salem in Algeria.
