The chairman of the Imo Football Association (FA), Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, has extolled the two Nigerians in the English FA club, Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi for leading their football club to win the English FA league.

Uchegbulam while congratulating the English football club, Leicester City, for winning the English FA club, said it was a pride that the duo had made history as the team members that helped Leicester City football club to achieve the feat for the first time ever.

He noted that other Nigerians, Daniel Amokachi, kanu Nwankwo, Celestine Babayaro, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and others are some Nigerians who had achieved the feat in times past.

In a statement endorsed by the newly appointed Media Officer to Imo FA, Angela Nkwu-Akpolu, said that the FA chairman charged other Nigerian football players to excel wherever they are, saying the people are known for laurels.

Uchegbulam expressed delight at the progress of Kelechi Iheanacho who is a product of Imo under 13/15 programme in 2007/2008 and has consistently made Nigerians proud.

According to him Imo FA took note of Iheanacho’s celebration wrapped in Nigeria flag which exhibits great love for his country, an indication that he actually imbibed the State Football Association orientation taught him years ago.

On the reappointment of Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, the FA chairman commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for giving Chief Dan Ogu another opportunity to serve in the ministry.

The FA boss said that the reappointment of Ogu was a wise decision and would help to boost the interventions already introduced in the ministry.

While congratulating Ogu, Chief Amanze reminded him that his reappointment is a call to higher duties and the need to redouble efforts in the ministry.

Amanze pointed out that Ogu since assumption of office had discharged his duties with commitment and built synergy with the different stakeholders in the industry.

He called on the commissioner to ensure that under his watch, sports received a boost because if well managed, it is an avenue to engage the teeming youths, away from social vices.
