Belgian Jupiler League side KRC Genk has confirmed that Nigeria’s Flying Eagles star Yira Sor is injured and out of the season.
Sor joined the Limburger 2 seasons ago after a successful spell with Slavia Prague and he has stamped his authority in the team.
He sustained an injury in the first half of the game against Standard Liege and had to undergo a scan to determine the degree of the injury.
Genk medics released a statement on Friday to confirm that Sor’s season is over.
“During the home match against Standard, Yira Sor remained in the dressing room at halftime with groin complaints. Initial investigations in the days after the match were inconclusive. Together with the club doctor, Sor therefore went to London for a second opinion. That did bring clarity. The fast Nigerian suffered a tear in the groin. While there was initially hope that we would be able to recover Yira during the playoffs, it has now become clear that his season is unfortunately over. Yira will go under the knife, after which the rehabilitation can start and we will prepare him for the start of next season.
The entire Genk family wishes Sor a speedy recovery”, the club said.
Sor scored 6 goals this season for Genk
