Atalanta club manger, Giani Gasperini has said the impressive performance of the Nigerian International Ademola Lookman in the UEFA Europa League final last season is one of the reasons Atalanta is doing well this season.
Atalanta won their first European title in May, beating German chàmpions Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final, with Lookman scoring all the goals.
The Bergamo-based side has not looked back since th, en, and they have been performing well in the league and Europe this season.
“We are in a good period of form in Italy and Europe. I’m happy with the performances and results we are getting.
“Winning the Europa League last season helped us grow in confidence and self-belief.
“Many new players have arrived and are improving, but it was last season’s success, driven by players like Lookman, that set the tone.”
