Manchester City has reportedly made a key breakthrough in their pursuit of Erling Braut Haaland by agreeing personal terms with the representatives of the Borussia Dortmund forward.

The Premier League leaders are known to be one of several top European clubs who are said to be willing to meet the £63m release clause of the Norway international.

In the current market and given Haaland’s potential, activating that option has been deemed a formality, but it remains unclear how many of the interested teams are prepared to meet Haaland’s wage demands and the fees of his representatives.

However, according to the Daily Mail, City has agreed to pay Haaland in excess of £500,000 per week on a five-year contract.
The report suggested that a deal might be formally completed within the next week, and the terms put forward by City seemingly end any lingering hope that Dortmund may have of agreeing a contract extension with the 21-year-old.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are now in a position where they must decide whether to match the package put forward by City or accept defeat in the long-running saga revolving around Haaland’s next move.
