Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly become serious contenders to sign Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman.

United will be competing with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for his services.

The English side is said to be willing to meet Lookman’s £58 million asking price.

The club is closely monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation in Italy, as Atalanta is expected to initiate discussions with him regarding a new contract.

While United could potentially make a move for Lookman, it will largely depend on how the negotiations unfold.

As of now, concrete talks have yet to take place, and a January transfer is considered unlikely.

CaughtOffside also suggests that pursuing a deal after the current season is more feasible, especially with Real Madrid and PSG expected to intensify their interest in Lookman next year.

This past year, the 27-year-old has had an impressive run in Italy, contributing to Atalanta’s Europa League victory in May and finishing 14th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Lookman is currently contracted with the Serie A club until the summer of 2026, which means he will have only 12 months left on his deal after this season.

This situation could make him available for a reduced fee, estimated between £50 million and £58 million.

Ruben Amorim, who will oversee his first Premier League game against Ipswich Town on Sunday, is expected to have a modest transfer budget to work with at United.
