Lionel Messi’s father and agent Jorge has fuelled hope among Barcelona fans the megastar will return to Catalunya.
The Argentina magician has one season left on his Paris Saint-Germain contract with an option of a further year.
It was reported in March following the French giants’ calamitous Champions League exit, Messi – and Neymar – could be sold.
It was also mused the MLS could be a potential destination ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
But a return to Barcelona cannot be ruled out and it became an even more likely prospect when Jorge dropped his latest bombshell.
Speaking to Jigantes in Spain, Messi snr said: “I hope Leo can come back to Barcelona one day.” Messi, 34, has netted just six times in Ligue 1 this season as PSG flopped in Europe.
He enjoyed 17 years in the Barca first team, racking up 520 appearances and scoring 474 goals.
