Ministry of Sports to support NVBF ahead of 2021 World C’ships

Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Chief Sunday Dare said the ministry of sports will make efforts in ensuring the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) gets support ahead of the World Championships in Iran and Mexico.

Chief Sunday Dare stated this when he visited the venue of the volleyball event at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Benin, Edo state.

Dare said since the inception of Engineer Musa Nimrod as the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, the country has hosted various international tournaments which put Nigeria on the map.

He revealed that volleyball has become one of the most popular sports in the country following the grassroots events embarked upon by the current board.

Dare said, “I am excited that Nigeria qualified for the U18 Girls World Championship in Mexico and the U19 Boys Championship in Iran after we hosted the 2021 African Championships in Abuja last February.

“The ministry of sports will ensure the Nigeria Volleyball Federation gets the necessary support before the World Championships in Iran and Mexico respectively because the current board is doing well in promoting volleyball.

“Engineer Musa Nimrod has played a huge role in ensuring volleyball becomes very popular in Nigeria through hosting of 4 African Championships, the revival of the National Leagues and attending African and World tournaments”.

Hon Dare commended the volleyball players participating in the National Sports Festival for the skills and sportsmanship behavior exhibited during the games.
