Newly appointed Acting General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Dimeji Lawal (MON), has called for support in his role to inspire his side to enviable height in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Kabongo as he was fondly called, expressed this after being appointed by the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde to take over as the General Manager of the Oluyole Warriors following the demise of the former GM, Rasheed Balogun.

In an interview after the pronouncement by the governor, the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star revealed that he can’t wait to inspire the club to an enviable height.

“We thank God, because this same responsibility I was offered eight years ago, which I rejected because I felt I was not prepared for such job then.

“May the soul of my boss (Rasheed Balogun) rest in perfect peace. I served him wholeheartedly, I gave him my all and I learnt a lot along the line and now that our amiable governor felt I should take the responsibility, I think, I am more than prepared for it and it is going to be with the support of everybody because it is not going to be an easy job”, he said.

Speaking further, Lawal, one of the few players with the rear privilege of featuring for all the three main national teams in the country (the U17, U20 and the Super Eagles), promised not to disappoint the governor and the entire people of Oyo State.

“We are very lucky to have a governor like GSM who loves giving solution to all our problems. We never saw this coming because of our unimpressive start but we thank God for our current position on the log.

“Like I learnt along the line, nothing is impossible. I’m not going to say it is going to be easy, but all hands must be on deck, we will put in lots of efforts to make sure we make the governor and the people of Oyo State happy.

“Sometime you are saddled with a task and you think it looks so difficult and so impossible, but I will tell you, everything is achievable and like I said, with the support of everybody, I think it is not something that is too much to be done”, concluded the ex-international who will combine his new role with his present position of Team Manager.
