Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has won the first gold medal for Team Nigeria at the African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon pounding out a Championship Record of 21.20m to win.
He completed a hat-trick of African Championship titles, having won in Asaba and Mauritius, and is now tied for the most GOLD medals by a male Shot Putter in the history of the Championships.
Recall that Team Nigeria Athletics is in Douala, Cameroon with 40 athletes, 20 male and 20 female and they are to compete in 20 events.
Nigeria last won the Championships in 2012 in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic.
The 1982 edition hosted by Egypt had the least number of participants, 297 from 18 countries also won by Kenya.
