World Soccer ruling body has released the latest rankings for June 2023 and North African countries dominated the African top 5 positions.
The latest ranking released on Thursday morning saw Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt dominating Africa’s top 5 with Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropping to the 6th spot.
Super Eagles secured a 2-3 away win against Sierra Leone in Matchday 5 of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier but it counted for little.
The 3-time African champion was ranked 39th in the World and 6th on the continent of Africa, the lowest ranking for Super Eagles in the last 5 years.
The Atlas Lions of Morocco retained their position as African number 1 and 13th in the World and the Teranga Lions of Senegal stays second and 18th in World.
