The trio of Anthony Okachi, Joshua Akpan and Akintunde Azeez, scorers of Shooting Stars three goals in last weekend’s league opener against Plateau United have never featured in the NPFL, prior to that game in Jos.
The trio are looking forward to repeating the same scoring form when they host Kwara United on Thursday in their Match-day 2 encounter at 4:00pm.
Previously, Okachi, who once played for the Oluyole Warriors in the NNL, rejoined the Ibadan soccer lords from Ikorodu United, while Akpan was signed from Abia Comets just as Akintunde featured for Stationery Stores before pitching tent with 3SC.
It was a glorious elite league debut for the trio as Akpan, top scorer at the Optima Energy sponsored 10th Ogunjobi Gold Cup scored in the 6th minute, Okachi, the MVP of the maiden NPFL/Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup fired home in the 15th minute while Flying Eagles invitee, Akintunde, came on as a second half substitute to score in the 65th minute.
The trio will be hoping to continue with their goal scoring feat when the coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored lads host Kwara United on Thursday in a match day two encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
