The final game of Matchday 8 of the Nigeria Premier Football League was held on Thursday and it was a good outing for Akwa United in Uyo.
The Promise Keepers played host to Gombe United at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo and won the game via a lone goal.
The host dominated the game from the blast of the whistle and their efforts quickly paid off with Uche Collins scoring in the 8th minute.
Despite scoring early in the game the host refused to back down as they continued to press the backline of Gombe United.
Collins almost netted the second goal but Gombe United’s goalkeeper did enough to stop his header and ensured that they were able to keep a respectable scoreline.
