NPFL: Doma Pip Plateau To Top Table As Enyimba, 3SC, Akwa United Pick Home Wins

Doma United pipped Plateau United 1-0 in one of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 9 matches to rise to the zenith of the table.

Doma have garnered same 17 points with Lobi Stars and Shooting Stars of Ibadan in nine matches but topped the table on superior goal different.

Meanwhile, Nine-time NPFL champions, Enyimba FC returned to winning ways on Sunday following their slim 1-0 victory over league contenders, Lobi Stars at the Enyimba International Stadium.

The People’s Elephant put in a dominant display against their visitors but were unable to convert from chances created.

Alalibo Orinate sent the home fans into wild jubilation after he scored the winning goal for Finidi George’s side in the 88th minute to secure maximum points.

Aniekeme Okon reduced the deficit for the Sky Blue Stars 12 minutes before full-time.

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United defeated neighbours Abia Warriors 2-1, to revive their sluggish campaign so far.

Alex Oyowah coolly coverted from the penalty spot in the 39th minute to give the Pride of Rivers a deserved 1-0 lead after a dominant start.

Former Rivers United defender Ifeanyi Anaemena compounded the woes of the visitors after scoring an own goal in the 82nd minute to double the lead for Stanley Eguma’s side.

Abia Warriors were awarded a penalty towards the end of the game. Ifeanyi Anaemena converted from the spot in the 86th minute to finish the game 2-1.

Sporting Lagos escaped defeat after equalising in the 90+10 minutes as they shared the spoils against visiting Heartland FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Heartland thought they were coasting home to a famous away victory after Chinedu Ike scored in the 75th minute for the struggling visitors.

Jonathan Alukwu restored parity for Sporting late into added time, as the game ended 1-1.

Sunshine Stars held Bayelsa United to a 1-1 in Yenagoa to pick a vital away point, while Gombe United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in the Northern derby.

Ayinde’s solitary strike in the 56th minute gave Shooting Stars a 1-0 victory over Kano Pillars in Ibadan as Rangers were held to a goaless draw at home by Kastina United.
