Due to poor performance in recent matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League, the hammer of the Nigeria Football Federation refereeing department has fallen on 14 refs.
The refereeing department released a statement on Monday indicting the officials and confirming their preliminary suspension.
One referee from Matchday 2, 1 from Matchday 4, 2 from Matchday 5, 2 from Matchday 6, and 1 from Matchday 7 are involved in the suspension.
The committee further informed they would appreciate it if full videos of the games could be provided for proper evaluation of the performance of the referees.
The referee’s decision to cancel Remo Stars’ equalizing goal against Bendel Insurance on Matchday 7 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin is still a subject of discussion in the media space.
