After guiding Remo Stars to a successful season finishing third on the NPFL log with 62 points and securing a CAF Confederations Cup ticket, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has informed that he would soon be a free agent.

The ‘Oracle’ who signed a one-year deal with the club made this known after the Sky Blues Stars season ending game against Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Gangling Andy Okpe made headlines on the last day of the season, scoring a second half hat-trick against the visitors, Remo Stars won the game 3-0.

Like some NPFL reporters do say, “If you don’t want you team to go on relegation hire Ogunbote now it has changed to if you want continental ticket, Ogunbote is your best bet.”

“The club got promoted on two occasions and got relegated. After gaining a third promotion ticket in the NNL, the management of the club while hiring me told me vividly that their goal is to stay in the NPFL, which for me was no big deal but we have to agree to some certain terms.

“That we have achieved our targets and surpassed it, the question on everyone’s lips is my future with Remo Stars.

“Well I did sign a one-year contract with the club which of course will expire in a weeks time. It takes two to tango as am expecting an offer from them, and once I get it, the management will be expecting an acceptance from me.

“But at the moment, nothing is on the table. Regardless I will be a free agent soon, so until there’s an offer am open to negotiations.”
