Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said Napoli striker Victor Osimhen can lead Nigeria to glory in Ivory Coast.
The coach of Cheetah of Benin made the statement while reacting to the African Player of the Year Award won by the Nigerian attacker.
He said Osimhen has what it takes to lead to glory and further said he believed he will do it for Nigeria
“I am so happy that Osimhen got the Best African Player of 2023 award because he really deserves it after scoring so many goals and playing so well for club and country”,
“Of course, with his goals, he can lead the Super Eagles to victory in the CAN; he can do it and I hope he will.
He was 17 when I first saw him and recruited him to the Super Eagles in my very first match against Tanzania and a lot many people were surprised.
Again, many were also surprised when I took him to the AFCON 2019 in Egypt, but he later showed all the qualities he had.
This boy is always the same, humble, hard-working and always remaining modest, which is a good sign for a great player who wants to be the greatest”, he said.
