Chelsea are reportedly planning to hold talks with Napoli, the Serie A champions, to negotiate possible payment terms for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea aims to discuss payment terms with Napoli for the release clause in Osimhen’s contract. The Nigerian international is Chelsea’s top target for the upcoming transfer window, and his exit clause is worth €130 million in his deal with Napoli.
Victor Osimhen has become one of the best strikers in the world since joining Napoli from LOSC Lille in September 2020. He was highly rated during his stints with Les Dogues and VfL Wolfsburg and has lived up to that billing during his time at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Although it took him some time to get going, he became a pivotal figure in the last two seasons and was instrumental in Napoli ending their wait of nearly three decades to win the Serie A title. However, he has not performed at the same level this term, even though he has a decent record of 13 goals and four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Osimhen recently signed a new contract with Napoli, which includes a release clause worth €130 million. This update in his contract has taken the matter of his future out of Napoli’s hands while alerting his admirers.
