Roberto Calenda, the agent of Super Eagles and Napoli star Victor Osimhen, is still in close contact with Aurelio De Laurentiis; as no agreement has been reached yet despite multiple meetings.
The Partenopei are keen to tie down the 24-year-old Nigerian striker to a new long-term contract, keen to protect their star amidst serious interest from across Europe, but so far talks have not resulted in a new deal.
Osimhen, who has two years left on his current contract in the Campania capital, is keen to stay with Napoli but wants a release clause in his new deal, giving him some assurances for the future.
As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Calenda met with Napoli on Tuesday this week to continue contract talks and left without a new agreement. He has met with the club six times now and his client is no closer to penning a new contract.
There is still confidence that an agreement can be reached soon, but there a number of details that need to be resolved first, starting with Osimhen’s new salary and his release clause.
Recall a muscular issue ruled him out of Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Spanish LaLiga side Girona in a pre-season tune up game on Wednesday.
