Nigeria’s Ijomah Kingsley has qualified for the final of the PRI Men’s Single SCULLs Final B at the event held at the Sea Forest Waterway.
The Nigerian British born athlete who is making his debut at the games and Nigeria’s first attempt returned in a time of 11.15.09 to book a place in this stage.
With his qualification to the final B of the rowing event,the 39year old athlete will be gunning/aiming at world ranking .
While speaking with Tribunesport,an elated Kingsley said,”I am highly satisfied and happy to be here .I started just few years back and I am here at the Olympics representing Nigeria despite the odds.But I am proud to put on the colour of Nigeria.The minister has been very supportive and encouraging,he saw to our wellbeing from day one to this stage and I believed we can go far in subsequent games and will want more Nigerians to take up this games”,he said.
The Secretary, Pararowing Federation of Nigeria,Bunmi Oluode described the feat as best in right direction saying that this will encourage more Nigerians to participate in the game because there is future in it”,she said.
