The coach of the Banyana Banyana of South Africa Desiree Ellis has revealed the reason they lost out to Nigeria.
Despite dominating the second-leg game in Pretoria, the African champions were unable to get a required result against the Falcons.
Ellis said, they started poorly against the Nigerians and also failed to take their chances.
“We knew that coming into this game – we needed to score, we also knew that we needed to score as early as possible because the longer the game went on, the more desperate we became.
”We didn’t start well, we changed the formation slightly because we needed to score, and we went with three up front – they got a chance very early on, I think that was the only chance they got in the half. But, we didn’t go forward as much as we wanted to in the first half,” added Ellis.
