Manchester United star Paul Pogba has revealed his house was burgled while his two children were sleeping in their bedroom as he played in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The World Cup winning Frenchman took to social media on Wednesday to reveal him and his wife Zulay’s ‘worst nightmare’ have been realised, with their sense of safety and security stripped from them.
Pogba, 29, has offered a reward to anyone who can provide him with information.
He wrote on social media: ‘Last night our family’s worst nightmare was realised when our home was broken into and burglarised while our babies were sleeping in their bedroom.
‘The burglars were in our home for less than five minutes but in that time they took from us something more valuable than anything we had in our home… our sense of safety and security.
‘This occurred during the final minutes of last night’s match when they knew that we would not be home. My wife and I rushed home not knowing if our children were safe and unharmed.
‘As a father there is no feeling worse in this world than not being there to protect your children and I sincerely hope that no one ever has to feel what I felt last night.
‘It is for this reason that I would like to offer a reward for anyone who has a clue to help us. Please send any info to rewardpogba@gmail.com.’
Pogba came off the bench for United in their 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid, with the incident at his home taking place towards the end of the game. He and his wife then rushed back to the property, the player said.
International superstar Pogba has been married to Zulay, a model from Bolivia, since 2019, having met her a few years before on a pre-season tour.
it has been reported in the last few hours that United are now working with their players to review and strengthen the security at their houses.
Pogba’s incident comes just a matter of months after team-mate Victor Lindelof suffered a break-in at his own home.
His wife Maja and young family were at the property during the incident back in January, but were mercifully not harmed.
Lindelof had played for United in their win over Brentford in the capital when the shocking moment unfolded. ‘We can confirm that a break-in occurred at Victor Lindelof’s house during the away game against Brentford,’ a United statement said at the time.
Maja delved into the trauma she suffered as a result of the break-in. On Instagram, she wrote: ‘During Victor’s game this Wednesday night we had a break-in at our house in Manchester.
We are okay under the circumstances but it was obviously a very traumatic and scary moment for both me and my little kids. We are now in Sweden and are spending some time off with our families. Love, Maja.’
Pogba has been on the books at United since he re-joined the club for a then-world record fee of £89million, having left Juventus in 2016. His contract at Old Trafford is set to run out this summer.
