Following his second performance against Chelsea, the manager of Fulham FC Marcos Silva has said Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey can be an important player for the club.
Bassey joined the Craven Cottage club this summer from the Dutch Eredivisie giant Ajax Amsterdam.
Fulham faced Chelsea in the final game of the Summer Series in the United States and conceded two second-half goals.
The Nigerian international was introduced in the second half of the game and he was able to stabilise the team’s defence.
Silva praised the Nigerian lad referring him as a strong player.
” It was his first 45 minutes. I told him I didn’t need to see brilliant or extraordinary things from him.
“I wanted him to start simply so he could gain some confidence. And he did that perfectly.’
“If he gets to know his teammates even better, knows the patterns and principles, then he can show even more. Also on the ball.
‘He’s a very strong boy. It’s only a matter of time before it’s fully integrated”, he said.
