Nigeria President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the sum of One Million and Three Hundred thousand dollars ($1.3M) with few days to the commencement of 2023 African Nations Cup (AFCON) to be hosted in Cote D’Ivoire.
The 2023 AFCON will commence on 13th January and will end on 11th February, 2024. Super Falcons who won their third AFCON trophy are looking forward to winning it for the fourth time when hostilities begin in Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has boosted the morale of the Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro who was owed backlogs of salaries and also the players who have not been paid their match bonuses dated back to 2021.
To this end, the approval will play huge role in the team’s pursuit of the fourth title. Super Eagles are currently preparing for the Africa most glamorous football competition in the United Arab Emirates from where they connect to Nigeria before flying out to Cote D’Ivoire for the championship.
Super Eagles will file out against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, 14th January in their first match before taking on hosts, Cote D’Ivoire on 18th January, 2024. The 2013 African champions will trade tackles with Guinea Bissau on 22nd January in their last group match.
