Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick will reportedly name Cristiano Ronaldo in his starting XI for Sunday’s Manchester derby with Manchester City.

The Portugal international has only netted once in the Premier League since the end of December and missed a host of opportunities in last weekend’s goalless draw with Watford.

There have been suggestions that Rangnick could consider playing Bruno Fernandes as a false nine against the Premier League champions this weekend.

However, according to The Sun, Ronaldo will again get the nod through the middle, with the club’s interim manager hoping that a week between matches will have helped ‘re-energise’ the attacker.

The 37-year-old has scored 15 times in 30 appearances for Man United this season, including nine goals in 23 Premier League outings, with his last strike coming against Brighton & Hove Albion on February 15.

Ronaldo has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2023, but there have been claims that he could look to leave the 20-time English champions during this summer’s transfer window.
