Following their failure to secure the hosting right of the 2027 African Cup of Nations, Senegal has switched its attention to the hosting right of the 2029 edition of the competition.

The Central African bid of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania dumped out Senegal, Nigeria and Benin (Joint), and Zambia to get the hosting right.

The Senegal Football Federation president Augustin Senghor has made it clear that they are preparing to submit their bid for 2029 but further stated that they required a backup from the government.

“It would be a good thing to return to the competition for 2029, but for that to happen, we need a decision from the authorities,” he said.

Senegal last hosted the competition in 1992 and Coted’Ivoire emerged as the winner.
