The manager of the Italian Serie A side AC Milan Stefano Pioli has revealed the reason Nigeria’s Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was used as a substitute in their opening game.
The Nigerian International joined the Rosonerri a few weeks ago from the Spanish La Liga club Villareal and he was unable to follow the team to the training tour of the United States.
Former Serie A champion started their campaign in the league last weekend with a 0-2 win over Bologna but Chukwueze only came in as a substitute in the second half.
Pioli explained that Chukwueze had only spent a week with the squad but quickly assured that he would get into the team in due time.
“We are playing those who are most ready, who have been working together since July.
“Chukwueze, Okafor, and Musah only arrived two weeks ago, but I don’t think it will take them long to be at the same level as their teammates”, he told DAZN.
