The president of the South Africa Football Association, Danny Jordan, was on Wednesday arrested and arraigned for fraud.

The arrest comes after a police raid on SAFA’s offices in March, which revealed claims that between 2014 and 2018, Jordaan used SAFA’s resources for personal purposes.

These include hiring a private security firm for his protection and engaging a public relations company, all without approval from the SAFA board.

He had attempted to block his arrest by seeking a court injunction.

However, the Johannesburg High Court is not scheduled to hear his case until Thursday.

Alongside Jordaan, SAFA’s chief financial officer, Gronie Hluyo, and businessman Trevor Neethling are also facing charges.
