South Africa’s Premier League club Moroka Swallows FC has ignored the plea of Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi for the club manager Musa Nyatama.
Akpeyi is one of the important players for the Swallows and played a key role as the team survived relegation this season.
A few weeks ago, the Nigerian international came out to speak in support of Nyatama and hope the club keeps him but the club management thought otherwise.
The club on Sunday announced Steve Komphela as the team’s new manager.
“Swallows FC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Coach Steve Komphela as the Head Coach of Swallows FC,” reads Swallows’ statement.
“He will be assisted by Musa Nyatama together with Ditheko Mototo.
“We want to take Swallows FC to the next level and we are very excited to have attracted the services of Coach Komphela.
“We appreciate the professional manner in which Mamelodi Sundowns FC managed these negotiations, Coach Musa Nyatama remains a special pillar of our team and his willingness to learn and work closely with an experienced coach like Steve Khompela is highly appreciated”, the club statement said.
