Super Eagles camp bubbles ahead of the 2023 CAF African Nations Cup MatchDay 5 qualifier game against Sierra Leone as 19 players hit the Lagos camp on Sunday night.
All four home-based invited players; Victor Sochima and Olorunleke Ojo as well as Rivers United defender Ebube Duru and Bendel Insurance FC midfielder Divine Nwachukwu have all joined the early birds of William Troos-Ekong, Ademola Lookman, Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Kelvin Akpoguma, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Calvin Bassey.
Others are; Kenneth Omeruo, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Frank Onyeka, Adebayo Adeleye and Bright Osayi-Samuel completed the number of players that are already in camp who will commence training tomorrow (Monday) at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
Nigeria will trade tackles with Lone Star of Sierra Leone in the Matchday 5 of the qualifier at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia on Sunday, 18 June, as Sierra Leone do not have any stadium in their country approved for international matches.
The Super Eagles are top of their qualification group with nine points out of four matches, followed by Guinea Bissau’s Wild Dogs who have seven points. Leone Stars, who gave the Eagles a tough run in Abuja on Day 1 of the qualification series before succumbing 2-1, are on five points. Sao Tome and Principe, who play the Super Eagles on the final day of the series in September, are bottom with only one point.
