The three-time African champions will commence their preparations for the 2023 African Nations Cup in Dubai before flying back to Lagos from where they leave for Cote D’Ivoire to contest for the fourth AFCON title.

Captain, Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Moses Simon were among Europe-based players that returned to Nigeria for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. They joined the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) team, which departed Nigeria for UAE via Cairo aboard an EgyptAir flight yesterday (Tuesday).

The 12-man team are expected to be joined by Coach Jose Peseiro and the Europe-based players today ahead of tomorrow’s first training session in the Middle East.

All the players, except Samuel Chukwueze, who was permitted to play in AC Milan’s Coppa Italia game yesterday, were expected to arrive in the camp as scheduled.
