It was a class performance by East African cricket giant, Tanzania as they cruised past Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Rwanda to claim the trophy of the 4th Nigeria Cricket Federation, (NCF) Women’s T20 International cricket tournament on Sunday in Lagos.

As Captain Neema boasted, Tanzania dusted off their only loss to Rwanda to win “all the remaining games”. The tournament

debutant dominated batting and bowling to lift the trophy at TBS Oval in Lagos.

Saumu Mtae toppled her teammate, Hudaa to top batting with a total of 203 runs in 6 matches, Hudaa Omary scored 155 runs while her compatriot Perice Zakayo was third top better.

In the bowling category, the 5th-ranked team dominated as well through fierce bowler Perice Zakayo but shared 11 wickets dismissed with Rwanda’s Rosine Irera. While Nigerian teenager, Shola Adekunle was the third-best bowler with 11 wickets on her record.

Tanzania Perice Zakayo won the Most Valuable Player of the Series.

Nigeria in the last match showcased a superb performance in their last game against long-time rival, Rwanda. They achieved a successful defense of their score 110 runs.

Piety Lucky was in her element to make Nigerian fans proud. Piety batted the highest individual runs of 28 runs off 22 balls and also vindicated her previous poor fielding when she caught Flora Irakoze.

Nigerian tight fielding kept Rwanda’s runs at 90 runs and the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Nigeria won by 20 runs as Nigeria’a Peculiar Agboya won the Player of the Match Award.
