Team Egba Ake on Saturday emerged Champions of the 2021 Kings’ Cup Invitational Golf Tournament held at the Abeokuta Golf Club, Ogun State.
With the four Egba Kingdoms of Ake, Owu, Agura and Oke Ona uniting on the golf course, the Egba Ake team emerged victorious with 642 points.
599 points was enough for team Oke ona to finish as first runners up, while, team Agura and team Owu wrapped up the tournament in third and fourth place in that order.
Courtesy one of the sponsors of the event, Kenya Airways, the top performer, Mr. Tayo Aderinto from team Egba Ake won a ticket to any country of his choice.
In what was the second edition of the tournament put together to foster unity between the four Egba Kingdoms, the Agura of Agura, Oba Saburi Babajide Bakre performed the ceremonial tee off to set the Championship underway.
Chairman, organizing committee of the 2021 Kings’ Cup Golf tournament, Mr. Adewale Adeogun appreciated every participant and also gave kudos to Marketing consultant of the event, Nilayo Sports Management Limited , owned by renowned sports entrepreneur and former commissioner for sports in Ogun State, Hon. Bukola Olopade.
On the part of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, the Kings’ Cup will continue to enjoy the presence of corporate bodies, the project manager Mr. Seyi Johnson, while addressing the media assured that it will not be a one off thing.

At the dinner event held at the Library hall, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL on Saturday evening, individual and team honours were presented to deserving winners.
The presentation of the giant trophy to team Egba Ake was done by the managing director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Hon. Bukola Olopade.
While the monarchs from the four Egba Kingdoms were ably represented, dignitaries from different walks of life also graced the colorful occasion.
