Eric Sekou Chelle, the newly appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, has shared reasons behind his decision to accept the role.
Chelle, who was born in France, was appointed as the coach of Nigeria’s national team last week. Speaking about the appointment, he acknowledged that turning down the opportunity to manage one of Africa’s top teams was not easy.
“The MCO will always have a special place in my heart,” Chelle said during his media interaction after his final match.
“This is my last meeting with you, marking the end of my adventure here.
“From Monday, I will be in Nigeria to begin a new chapter.”
“The MCO officials wanted me to stay, but leading one of the best teams in Africa and the world is an opportunity that cannot be refused.”
Chelle is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Monday to formalize his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
