Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Rangers of Scotland striker Cyril Dessers has said they doubted his ability as a player.
Dessers broke into the limelight while representing Heracle Armelo in the Dutch League and later moved to the Belgian Jupiler League with Genk.
While speaking to the club media, the energetic attacker described how he started his professional career late.
“I was never regarded as a big, big talent – this path made me stronger and made me who I am now.
“It is not a sprint, it is a marathon and I think my career is one of the best examples of that.
I became a pro football player quite late,” he added in a UEFA Europa League feature.
“I saw the other side of life that is why I try to enjoy the special moments in football even more.
“The things you can do, the places you can see, it makes it special”, he stated.
Dessers has played in Holland, Belgium, Italy and now Scotland.
