Nigeria currently sits at 64th position after winning a silver and a bronze. Nigerian athletes, Ese Brume and Blessing Obodururu had won bronze and Silver in Long Jump and Wrestling respectively.
The ongoing Olympics in Tokyo Japan hosts about 205 countries from various continents. The African continent has about 54 countries participating in various events. On the average, the athletes from the African continent have not performed up to expectation. At the moment of documenting this report, only three African countries have won one gold medal each.
The three countries that have won gold medals are South Africa, Tunisia and Ethiopia. South Africa also has two silver medals, and Tunisia has one silver medal. Uganda has one silver and one bronze medals.
Egypt has two bronze medals, and Ivory Coast has one bronze medal. As such, a total of eleven medals have been won by the whole African countries participating in the Olympics in Tokyo Japan.
The implication of the above analysis is that 46 African countries in the Olympics in Tokyo Japan have not won any medal in all the games. Nigeria has also won two medals. The competition is still in progress and African countries are expected to win more medals before the conclusion of the 2020-2021 Olympics in Tokyo Japan.
People’s Republic of China tops the gold medal table with about 28 gold medals. This is followed by United States of America with 21 gold medals. Japan sits at the third position with 17 gold medals.
