The prize tag slapped on Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali by his club Chippa United has scared away Kaizer Chiefs from acquiring his service.
Nwabali hit the limelight after his wonderful performances for Nigeria in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
His superb performances drew the attention of various clubs across the World and Chippa United has decided to slap a huge cash on him.
The club has slapped a whopping R30 million ( $1.5 million) on him.
The Amakhosi have been on the lookout for a goalkeeper and Nwabali has been recognized as a perfect fit.
The club on Tuesday afternoon announced that they might not be able to get the Nigerian International due to the prize tag.
” It is no secret that Chiefs have been assessing options for a goalkeeper to potentially join the club next season. Stanley Nwabali is one of the players that the club has been monitoring.
They had hoped to lure him in the same way they did with Daniel Akpeyi a few seasons ago.”
“But there seems to be a problem as Chippa are looking to cash in on the player (Nwabali). He did so well at Afcon. He is their prized asset.
The club is looking for around R30 million for him and at that value, not many clubs will be able to afford him”, the club said.
