WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced that he would be willing to fight for free against Anthony Joshua as talk of his return from retirement continues.

The undefeated world champion announced his decision in the wake of his victory against Dillian Whyte at Wembley, declaring that he would be hanging up his gloves. However, he has since reneged on this statement, declaring that he would be willing to re-enter the ring if he could seal a £500 million deal for his next fight.

He explained in an interview with promoter Frank Warren’s Queensberry productions: “I’d probably want half a billi to come out of retirement. I’m telling you the truth, if you want me out of retirement it’s gonna cost half a billi.”

The 33-year-old Wythenshawe born fighter has now made an even bolder statement, declaring that he would be willing to enter the ring against Joshua for free. The fighter was speaking on his ongoing Nationwide tour, saying that he wanted there to be no money involved in the fight, with free entry and free-to-air broadcasting.

Fury said: “It’s all about money, Mr Businessman; he’s not a fighting man. I swear to God I hope he wins the fight against Usyk so that I can come out of retirement and fight him for free.

However, the terms are these; I want it at Wembley stadium, I want it free to enter and I want it on free-to-air in television in this country. I’ll fight him in England, not abroad in a foreign country for more money; here for free for the people.”

There is no shortage of options for Fury, with his most likely opponent being the winner of Joshua’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. However, there has also been speculation with regards to a potential exhibition fight against either Icelandic strongman Thor Bjornsson or UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
