Egypt have qualified for the final of the U17 Volleyball Girl’s Championship after beating Nigeria and Cameroon in their two opening games.
Three countries, Nigeria (host), Cameroon and Egypt participated in the qualifier which commences on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Egypt beat Nigeria 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-15) in the opening game on Saturday and on Sunday defeated Cameroon 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13) to qualify for the final.
The two losers, Nigeria U17 girls and their Cameroonian counterparts will slug it out today (Monday) at 4pm and the winners will face Egypt in the final.
The Head Coach of Nigeria U17 Volleyball team, Sunday Akapson said the girls are focused on winning today’s game Cameroon adding that they have learnt from their mistakes against Egypt and that will spur them to picking a win in today’s encounter.
“The girls are set for victory, they remain focused on playing in the final if we beat Cameroon today. We have learnt a lot from the loss to Egypt and those lessons will sour us to victory today.” The coach said.
