The African soccer governing body (CAF) has announced the Cairo International Stadium as the venue for the opening game of the 2023 U20 African Cup of Nations.
The 75000-capacity stadium was built in 1960 and is the home of the Egyptian national team, Al Ahly and Zamalek also use the stadium as their home ground.
Host Junior Pharaoh of Egypt will take on Mozambique in the opening game slated for February 19th.
Cairo International, Suez and Alexandria are stadiums picked to host the biennial competition.
The semi-finalists will qualify to represent the continent in the U20 FIFA World Cup slated for Indonesia later in the year.
