National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Washington Spirit has secured the signing of Nigerian forward Gift Monday on a three-year contract, with an option to extend until 2028.
Monday, a Super Falcons star, joined Spanish club UDG Tenerife three years ago after leading Bayelsa Queens to a league title.
During her time in Spain, she made a significant impact, winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards.
UDG Tenerife confirmed her departure on Tuesday morning, paving the way for her move to the United States.
“Washington Spirit has signed Nigerian forward Gift Monday to a three-year deal with a 2028 team option in a transfer from Spain’s UD Tenerife, the clubs announced today,” the club stated.
Monday leaves Tenerife with an impressive record, scoring 26 goals in 65 appearances across all competitions.
