Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa has pledged his commitment to assist the dysfunctional Cricket South Africa to regain its stability.
This follows his consultative meetings with the CSA Members’ Council, the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and the South African Crickets Association (SACA) following the resignation of the entire Board over the weekend.
In what was described as constructive engagements with the various parties, the next step for the Minister will is to finalise details of an Interim Board.
The Minister had previously made his intentions clear that he would intervene in resolving the administrative crisis at the organisation if necessary.
He had already given notice to the international cricket council, which could have had serious repercussions, with government interference not tolerated by the world governing body.
The response by the former Board to resign seems to have saved CSA from direct intervention.
The Minister has welcomed the recent developments, and hopes the Interim Board will be in place by the end of the week.
