Switzerland confirm Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri has tested positive for Covid-19

Shaqiri tests positive for Covid-19

The latest international break is now upon us.

With Covid-19 still rife across the globe, clubs are probably not overly excited about large parts of their squad travelling all around the world to mix with a whole host of different people.

Nevertheless, that is the situation we are in, and with the break only just beginning, we have already seen one high-profile player from the Premier League test positive.

Said player comes in the form of Xherdan Shaqiri, who had been called up with Switzerland for their upcoming ties with Croatia, Spain and Germany.

However, on Tuesday morning, the Swiss national team announced that the Liverpool winger had indeed returned a positive test:

Liverpool’s Covid-19 cases

The news of Shaqiri testing positive comes just days after a number of other Liverpool stars have also tested positive for the virus.

First, it was reported on the 29th of September that one of Liverpool’s latest signing, Thiago, had tested positive for Covid-19:

This was followed three days later by Sadio Mane then being forced to self isolates after contracting the virus:

Both players would, of course, go on to miss out on the 7-2 drubbing Liverpool received at the hands of Aston Villa on Sunday evening.
