Leeds United have taken centre stage on social media this afternoon, albeit for all the wrong reasons…
Leeds sent packing
The Whites got their FA Cup campaign underway a short time ago, in a meeting with League Two outfit Crawley Town.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men, for obvious reasons, headed into proceedings as overwhelming favourites to advance to the competition’s 4th-round.
When all was said and done at Broadfield Stadium, however, the first major upset of the FA Cup campaign was forthcoming.
A bizarre 90 minutes of football saw Leeds put to the sword in frankly embarrassing fashion, by 3 goals to nil.
Nick Tsaroulla opened the game’s scoring early in the 2nd-half, courtesy of a moment of individual brilliance:

And it was two just minutes later, as Ashley Nadesan slotted home at the disappointing Kiko Casilla’s near post.
Then, just when it looked as though things couldn’t get any better for Crawley, a scramble in the visitors’ box eventually resulted in Jordan Tunnicliffe rifling home into the roof of the net:

Leeds, despite their best efforts, could not even manage a consolation over the remaining 20 minutes of the clash, as the Peacocks were sent back to West Yorkshire with their tails firmly between their legs.
Crawley, on other hand, keep alive their fine recent FA Cup record, with a spot in the competition’s 4th-round.
‘Won the nation’s hearts’
On the back of proceedings coming to a close at Broadfield Stadium, meanwhile, it has since come as little surprise to see Leeds act as the butt of the joke online.
The ‘they play great football even when they’re losing’ defence, which has become something of a running joke amongst opposing fanbases, represented the common theme on social media, with some of the highlights showcased below:

Beautiful Leeds… They’re really quite exquisite on the ball and a joy to watch, especially when they get hammered 3-0….
An absolute credit to Bielsa.
