Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have this afternoon provided fitness updates on their respective squads, ahead of tomorrow’s clash between Everton and Manchester United.

Everton vs United

The Toffees and Red Devils are set to face off in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.

Both sides will head into proceedings in search of a bounce-back performance, on the back of disappointing recent spells of form.

Hosts Everton have fallen to consecutive defeats over the last two weeks, first at the hands of Southampton, and then at Newcastle last time out.

Their recent slip has seen the Merseysiders knocked off the summit of the English top-flight, now sitting behind all of Liverpool, Leicester City and Tottenham.

As for Manchester United, their struggles to start out the Premier League season have been widely documented.

The Reds currently sit in a lowly 15th-spot, having managed a paltry 7 points from the club’s 6 league outings thus far.

Solskjaer’s men also followed a surprise loss at home to Arsenal last weekend with a further defeat in Europe on Wednesday night, courtesy of some schoolboy defending in Turkey versus Istanbul Basaksehir:

And, as outlined above, ahead of Saturday’s clash, fitness updates on the respective Everton and Manchester United squads have today been forthcoming.

First up comes the latter, courtesy of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s latest press conference a short time ago.

Speaking to the media, the Red Devils boss confirmed that, for the most part, he will have the same squad at his disposal as the one that fell to defeat in Istanbul two nights ago:

We’ve not lost any [players] from the Istanbul trip.

Same group, same squad.

Significantly, though, Solskjaer added that Alex Telles, who has spent the last couple of weeks in self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19, has returned to training.

The summer arrival at Old Trafford could therefore be available to feature at Goodison Park.

Elsewhere, Victor Lindelof’s potential participation remains in doubt, with the Swede set for a late fitness test:

Alex has started training with us, which is good. Victor has still got the issue that he’s been struggling with. He’ll have to be checked tonight [Friday] in the hotel.

It’s the same squad as before Istanbul really.

Next up was the latest from Carlo Ancelotti.

And the news, all told, proved of a hugely positive nature for those of an Everton persuasion.

Speaking in his own media conference this afternoon, the Toffees boss confirmed that the suspended Richarlison, along with sidelined pair Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph, are set to miss out on Saturday:

‘We have practically all the squad available apart from Richarlison, Gbamin and Fabian Delph, who had a little problem yesterday [Thursday]. He will be out for just a few days.’

However, crucially, Ancelotti also went on to reveal that all of Jamez Rodriguez, Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate are available once again following respective injury problems, whilst Lucas Digne is back in contention after sitting out a one-match ban:

‘All the others are available.’

‘James says he is 100 per cent. I have some doubts about this but physically he is okay.’

‘He has recovered from the little problem he had.’

‘If there was a chance of putting him in risk [of injury] by playing, we wouldn’t play him.’

‘He is going to play tomorrow and he is going to do his best.’

‘It is important not only to have James, but to have Coleman, Digne and Holgate back.’

Solskjaer reportedly still viewed as long-term appointment by Man United
