Arsenal host Newcastle

Mikel Arteta’s men are set to return to cup action this weekend, in a meeting with the Magpies at the Emirates.

The matchup marks the respective sides’ season opener in the FA Cup, as the heavyweights of English football take their place in the competition.

Arsenal will of course head into proceedings with their tails up, amid a fine recent spell of form.

The north Londoners, on the back of a 7-match winless streak in the Premier League, have since rattled off a trio of consecutive victories over the last couple of weeks.

The latest of these came this past Saturday, when a stellar display eventually saw Arteta and co. depart the Hawthorns with all 3 points, courtesy of a 4-0 drubbing of West Brom.

Partey in contention

And, as outlined above, ahead of their upcoming showdown with Newcastle, the positive news has today continued to flow for those of a Gunners persuasion.

This comes with a series of photos having surfaced online, showcasing the action from the club’s latest first-team training session.

There were a number of noteworthy takeaways from the photos in question, with highly regarded young goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo having been present alongside the rest of Arteta’s stars:

Without doubt the most significant talking point, though, was the presence of Thomas Partey.

Summer addition Partey has of course not featured for Arsenal since early last month, after picking up a muscular problem during a 2-0 derby defeat at the hands of Tottenham.

The Ghanaian, though, is now back in full training, and looks set to be in contention to return to competitive action versus Newcastle in 4 days’ time:
