Tottenham vs Maccabi Haifa

Tottenham booked their spot in the 2020/21 League Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday evening, seeing off Chelsea after a penalty shootout.

Despite already playing two ties in the last four days, Spurs are set to return to action in around 24 hours time.

The Lilywhite’s next outing comes in the form of a Europa League play-off tie.

After already seeing off Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Shkendija in previous qualifying rounds, Spurs are now just one win away from booking a spot in the Europa League group stages.

The team currently standing in their way is Israeli outfit, Maccabi Haifa.

Mourinho on Bale & Son

Ahead of the clash with Maccabi Haifa, Jose Mourinho held his latest press conference on Wednesday.

During the presser, the Portuguese tactician provided an update on two of Spurs’ top stars.

Heung-Min Son missed Tottenham’s outing with Chelsea on Tuesday after picking up a hamstring injury vs Newcastle this past weekend.

Mourinho would then claim post-Chelsea that he hopes to have the South Korean back after the latest international break.

But when speaking on Wednesday, though Mourinho did state Son will not feature on Thursday and is a doubt for Sunday, he also didn’t rule out the possibility of the forward playing at the weekend:

“Sonny of course is not playing tomorrow, he is a doubt for Sunday, I would say a big doubt. But I don’t want to say that he’s not going to play because maybe he does it and then my position is not good.”

Mourinho also provided a brief update on Gareth Bale, who is not expected to play any part in Tottenham’s next two outings:

“Bale he cannot play tomorrow or even on the weekend that I can confirm. Working very hard, very committed, very professional very happy, but not yet for tomorrow, for the weekend.”
