A recent report from Spain has credited Jose Mourinho with an interest in Real Madrid’s Eder Militao.
Militao’s Real stint
Eder Militao joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, from Portuguese powerhouse FC Porto.
Despite his tender years, Los Blancos are believed to have paid around £45m for the stopper.
However, since making the move to the Spanish capital, Militao has struggled for regular football.
The now 22-year-old managed 20 appearances across all competitions last term.
However, this season, Militao has seen his game-time seriously reduced. In fact, the Brazilian has featured on just three occasions for Los Merengues.
Tottenham linked with Militao
As such, with the winter transfer window now open, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see Militao linked with a potential move away from the Bernabeu.
As per a recent report from Spanish outlet AS, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho held an interest in Militao during the summer window.
In turn, it is suggested that Mourinho is now once again expressing an interest in bringing the centre-back to north London.
No potential fee is mentioned in AS’ report, but, when considering Militao’s age, the fee Madrid paid for him, and the fact that he is under contract until 2025, it is hard to envision the Spanish powerhouse parting ways with the youngster on the cheap.
Tottenham were of course linked with a whole host centre-backs in the summer, and though they did eventually sign Joe Rodon, the Lilywhites could nevertheless do with some fresh legs at the back.
Toby Alderweireld has been solid this season, but is beginning to get on in years, whilst Davinson Sanchez has been out of form for much of 2020/21.
This leaves just Eric Dier, who has of course spent most of his career playing in midfield, and Rodon, who remains quite young, and lacking in top-flight experience.
